“Loving kindness” (Chesed) is central to Jewish ethics and Jewish theology. It is in this spirit that Neve promotes volunteerism as a goal for each student. Neve provides a wide variety of volunteer opportunities to fit each woman’s ability and personality. Ideally, this will make it easier for her to continue similar acts of kindness throughout her life. The choices include working with special needs children, tutoring, helping (carefully chosen) mothers with many young children, working with terror victims, volunteering at clothing drives, doing computer work or photography for fund raising, and interacting with the elderly.
One of Neve’s students’ favorite place for volunteering is with Leket Israel, The National Food Bank. Project Leket is an initiative that sends students and thousands of other volunteers into fields and orchards to salvage thousands of tons of surplus produce for the benefit of those in need.
